- Ask and answer questions about what they are reading
- Make Connections with the story either through text to text connects, text to themselves, or text to the whole world connections.
- Make predictions and inferences about what they are reading
- Summarize the story the read
- Evaluate the story with critical thinking
- Be able to visualize the text as they read
- Know that the story they are reading has a beginning, middle, and an end
- Understand and be abel to identify the characters, setting, events, and a conflict/problem in the story they read
- Have developed skills to check for their own understand, which may be rereading or asking a question.
